Training of Trainers of Doctoral Supervisors

 

Work Package 4: Programme of Training of PhD supervisors

5th – 8th May 2025

Venue: Faculdade de Medicina na Sala dos Doutorandos, UEM Maputo
Sessions will be held between 8:45 – 16:00h every day
Coffee / Tea Break will be at 10:15h every day.

 

This training is a competence development of current trainers of doctoral supervisors at UEM who within the context of the PhD4Moz project will be adapting existing materials on doctoral supervision and engaging in curricular development to redesign existing training to fit the needs of supervisors at UEM, INS and UP Maputo.

 

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:

• Situate the training of doctoral supervisors in the context of the PhD4Moz project
• Consider and apply relevant TLAs for supervisor training
• Explain the intersection between mental health, time management, academic writing and doctoral supervision.
• Describe the context of doctoral supervision at partner institutions INS and UP-Maputo
• Design a plan for future work considering topics to be included and structure to be followed in the training of doctoral supervisors within the PhD4Moz project.

Metodology:

The training will be delivered face-to-face through lectures and presentations, group discussions and team activities.

Evaluation:

Participants are expected to be present during all sessions. Evaluation is continuous and is carried out by assessing contributions and participation.
